Sasuke 32 – Official Announcement
We knew that Sasuke 32 would be happening, as it was announced almost as quickly as Sasuke 31 had finished, but today TBS has officially announced Sasuke 32, officially titled 「SASUKE2016」夏 (lit. Sasuke 2016 Summer). The announcement comes from the official TBS site, the official Facebook page, and the official Twitter.
Applications for the tournament are open in Japan, and have been open for almost a week now. Same rules as before, anyone can apply, however the likelihood of international applications being accepted and/or chosen is highly unlikely. Those that live and/or work in Japan have a stronger chance than those that do not, for obvious reasons. The deadline for applications is April 8, 2016, at 23:59 (11:59pm) JST.
Following the application deadline, auditions are expected to take place in mid-to-late April, likely closer to the latter end of the month; and will take place in both Tokyo and Osaka.
Ninja Warrior revival? Sasuke 28-31 licensed for UK broadcast
ChallengeTV in the United Kingdom has licensed Sasuke 28-31 from TBS. That makes the UK as the first country to license and officially broadcast Sasuke tournaments after Comcast/NBC shutdown G4’s Ninja Warrior operations back during the Sasuke 27 & American Ninja Warrior 4 fiasco. We don’t know yet if it will be in classic Ninja Warrior format with 30 minute episodes, or if it will be a full Sasuke broadcast.

It has since been cancelled for this year’s ANW, but the plans are still in place to create a College Edition of American Ninja Warrior for next year’s ANW. The College Edition, which pits school vs school in the cities where the main ANW locations take place, would be open to competitors 18-20 years of age, lower than the current ANW requirement of 21+ only. Those that are looking to compete but don’t quite reach ANW’s 21+ age requirement may be able to look to the College Edition as an option when ANW 9 rolls around in the 2017 season.
Coming from ANW regular Straticus (via Arsenette), it seems that ANW 8’s prize pool has dropped back down to $500,000 following the $1,000,000 and multiple-winner debacle of ANW 7. At this point, no one knows how this will affect multiple winners and/or runner-ups, so we’ll have to wait and see, and hope for the best.
Finally, tickets to be an audience member for any of the ANW 8 locations are available. Tickets are free, but are limited and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Los Angeles is still pending a location and dates, so be warned and keep an eye on the dates and locations.

And finally, our very own Rambling Rican, is back at it again with some projects for 2016. Arsenette’s trip to Japan last year for Sasuke 31, chronicling in multiple vlogs, a calendar, and behind-the-scenes info of Sasuke 31 with competitors, crew, and others was a success thanks to the community helping to pitch in and get her over there. While the trip to Japan for Sasuke 32 is still pending (keep an eye on her blog for more details on that), she has revealed the 2016 Rambling Rican calendar which is now available.
